About the Company Directors Course and Foundations of Directorship Course

Company Directors Course™ (Face to Face)

Course commencement date: June (exact dates to be determined)
Location: Face to Face at 15 National Circuit Barton, ACT.

The Australian Institute of Company Directors is Australia’s leading provider of governance education and development programs, governance assessment services and Board advisory services.

AgriFutures Australia is offering individuals from the following groups the opportunity to participate in the Company Directors CourseTM Face to Face, the world’s most established director program:

  • 6 x fully sponsored positions for individuals working in an AgriFutures Australia Levied Industry (chicken meat, export fodder, thoroughbred horses, honeybee and pollination, rice, ginger, tea tree oil, pasture seeds, kangaroo, buffalo, deer, goat fibre)
  • 4 x fully sponsored positions for individuals working in an emerging industry (industrial hemp, insects, seaweed, sesame)
  • 4 x fully sponsored positions for agrifood innovation professionals (e.g. startups, scaleups, agtech companies, Producer Technology Uptake Program participants and coordinators, innovation brokers)
  • 2 x fully sponsored positions for members of the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award Alumni

The Company Directors CourseTM  is designed to ensure that participants not only understand their roles and responsibilities, but also improve their contributions to Board performance.

The 19-week course, including 6-week pre-reading, 5-day course over 1 week, and 3-month optional assessment period. provides current and relevant information and case references; and aims to be informative, thought-provoking and practical. Upon completion, it is trusted that participants’ confidence will be enhanced to face the challenges and reap the rewards of directorship, both in the short-term and as their director career progresses.

 

Foundations of Directorship™ (Online)

Location: Online

The Foundations of Directorship™ is designed for new and aspiring directors, senior executives, and managers wanting to gain a foundational knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of boards and directors.

For directors newly appointed to boards, anyone who might be interested in pursuing a career as a director, or for executives and managers who would like a better understanding of board processes, the Foundations of Directorship program gives you the essential information you need to know. It offers the skills and knowledge that those new to directorships need to excel in their role from the outset.

The course involves, 11 (Weeks) 2-week pre-reading and Course Introduction session. 3-day online course (one day a week over three weeks); and, 6-week optional assessment period. Upon completion, it is trusted that participants’ confidence will be enhanced to face the challenges and reap the rewards of directorship, both in the short-term and as their director career progresses.

 

Who should apply?

Company Directors Course™

The Australian Institute of Company Directors – Company Directors CourseTM  is designed for experienced directors, new directors, business owners and senior executives reporting to boards.

Foundations of Directorship™

The Australian Institute of Directors – Foundations of Directorship™ is designed for aspiring and new directors.

 

Key information

  • The course fees are fully sponsored by AgriFutures
  • Applicants are required to respond to a number of selection criteria and provide evidence of their engagement in their specified category.
  • All applicants of the Company Directors Course™ must be available to attend at least four of the five days of course. These dates are not flexible. The position is not transferable.
  • All applicants of the Foundations of Directorship™ Course must be available to attend all three days of course.
  • AgriFutures Australia stakeholders are encouraged to apply with applications to be assessed and selected by AgriFutures Australia staff.
  • Participants are required to complete the course assessment and provide a copy of their award/certificate to AgriFutures Australia as confirmation of completion.

 

Online deliveries utilising Zoom video conferencing

  • Every participant will need a computer or tablet, headset (headphones) with a microphone to be able to participate in discussions. The online delivery has been designed around everyone contributing via their own device. Use of a smartphone is not recommended.
  • The online session will be password protected. This password will be made available along with the session link in the MyLearning site.
  • Webcam functionality is highly recommended, and
  • Access to reliable, high-speed internet (we recommend a minimum bandwidth of 4Mbps for uploads and downloads)
