I grew up outside of a small village named Springhurst in North East Victoria. I am lucky to be the sixth generation of a family farming enterprise nestled below Albury in the Indigo Valley. My family predominantly produce Angus and Shorthorn beef cattle with some fine Merino wool.
Growing up on the land I have always been conscious about how agriculture is an integral aspect of human health and wellbeing within our society. Throughout high school and university I have expanded my agricultural experiences by working in vineyards, dairies and broadacre grain farms throughout Victoria and Southern NSW.
It was through these experiences that I have become increasingly passionate about understanding how we can reduce reliance on chemical management, whilst increasing the quality, and nutrient density of the food we eat. This has sparked my interest in becoming a nutrition agronomist within the pastures and broadacre sector.
I am privileged and excited to further pursue these interests with the Southern NSW Innovation Hub, who share similar commitments to making agriculture more resilient through industry research and farmer lead extension projects. I am so excited to meet up with other like-minded Horizon Scholarship recipients, discovering their amazing stories, and exploring the opportunities these networking events may hold!
