I grew up on a family-owned dairy farm in Jindivick in West Gippsland, VIC. I have been fortunate to experience many different aspects of agriculture in my life. This includes experience in production, sustainable agricultural development in Zimbabwe, soil sampling for many farms and as a farmhand on my family farm. These experiences led me to study Agricultural Science at Charles Sturt University.
My wide range of experience has ignited a passion in me for sustainable agricultural practices. My Christian faith and my experience in agriculture has shown me the importance of looking after our farming land. I have also seen how this consequently improves the productivity and profitability of these farms. After completing my degree, I am hoping to work in consultancy to help farmers and the agricultural industry as a whole to grow in farm productivity, profitability and sustainability.
I am honoured to be given the opportunity to receive a Horizon Scholarship and I’m looking forward to learning and experiencing new aspects of agriculture as a result. I am excited for new networking opportunities with industry and other scholars and for this scholarship to help inform my career direction.
I am thrilled to be sponsored by Hort Innovation and I’m looking forward to gaining new networks and further experience in horticulture. I am excited to see how Hort Innovation is working with stakeholders to improve R&D in the horticultural industry.
