The Hon Mick Veitch

The Honourable Mick Veitch brings extensive experience in public policy and agriculture, underpinned by a lifelong connection to rural Australia. He has a Master of Leadership from Deakin University and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Born and raised in regional New South Wales, Mr Veitch grew up on a farm in the Riverina. Before entering public life, he worked as a shearer and in community and disability services, gaining firsthand experience of the social and economic challenges facing rural Australia.

Mr Veitch served as a Member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 2007 to 2023, including as the Shadow Minister for Primary Industries and Regional NSW. He brings to the role a strong understanding of policy development, parliamentary process and portfolio administration, supported by extensive networks across government and industry.

Throughout his career, Mr Veitch has been a strong advocate for agriculture and rural Australia. He is committed to supporting research, innovation and industry growth that delivers long-term value for AgriFutures Australia’s levied and emerging industries.
