This publication provides detailed information on the environmental and agronomic outcomes for cereal growers who may wish to make the transition to low input, biologically based growing systems such as organic farming. It assesses economic returns and soil physical and biological outcomes from a comparative study of a long-term organic system and its conventional neighbour.
The results indicate that conversion to a low input organic cropping system is an economically viable option for some farmers. It also indicates that there are environmental benefits from such a conversion.
