A healthy rural workforce is critical for workforce participation and productivity. Using a strengths-based approach, this study provides research evidence of farmer and fisher preferred occupation/industry specific protective behaviours to maintain physical and mental wellbeing. Aligning programs and services with the needs and preferred behaviours of farmers and fishers will ensure greater uptake of programs and services, and better use of health resources.
The report is aimed at rural communities, industry organisations, health services and all levels of government.
