Summary
Regional Grower Services (RGS), a division of Bundaberg Fruit & Vegetable Growers Limited (BFVG), will deliver a comprehensive Australian Ginger Industry Extension Program under the AgriFutures Ginger RD&E Plan (2022–2027).
This program builds upon RGS’s proven capacity in agricultural extension, workforce development, and industry engagement, aligning with Priority 4: Industry Engagement and focusing on:
Increased awareness and uptake of R&D outputs
Improved adoption of Best Management Practices (BMP)
Development and dissemination of Australian Ginger Industry Standards
Increased industry collaboration and participation
The program will leverage RGS’s strong governance systems, experienced staff, and existing communication networks to ensure wide-reaching, impactful extension activities that build industry capacity and resilience.

Objective Summary
To deliver an effective extension program, to ginger growers and relevant agronomists, and build the adaptive capacity and resilience of the Australian Ginger Industry, the project should achieve the following objectives:
Improved grower awareness of AgriFutures Australia’s RD&E program, activities and opportunities.
By showcasing successful research and development outcomes to illustrate commercial benefits, increase knowledge transfer within industry and drive inclusive uptake of RD&E advancements along the supply chain.
Assist growers to increase their uptake of best management practices (BMP) that improve farm business profitability and sustainability.
Through the development of an Australian Ginger Industry Standard, drive growth in the value of the industry.
