Summary

The AgriFutures Australia Chicken Meat Program’s focus is to ensure the long-term prosperity of the Australian chicken meat industry through investment in RD&E and a focus on continuous improvement. The Chicken Meat Program RD&E Plan 2019-2022 (RD&E Plan) supports this purpose and guides the Program’s investments.

A key objective of the RD&E Plan is: to develop and implement measures to improve industry’s impact on the environment. To support this, the Program has identified the need for an industry specific materiality assessment to be undertaken, the delivery of which is the focus of this project. The materiality assessment will identify sustainability priorities and impacts that are currently, or have the potential to, impact the Australian chicken meat industry in the short and long term.

The sustainability materiality assessment will enable gaps to be identified and addressed in the current RD&E Plan, key performance indicators, and long-term sustainability objectives and targets, and support AgriFutures Australia in their overall objective of fostering an innovative, adaptive and valuable chicken meat industry in Australia.
