Summary
PRE PROJECT
This project will build on the knowledge and hardware gained in the initial project to complete WIFI coverage of the Rice Research Australia facility. Completing the connectivity map will enhance safety within the operation and provide the platform for further use of new and emerging technology entering the rice industry. Key achievements will include additional WIFI access and coverage, installation of water channel sensors, and adoption of more automated irrigation.
Work directly with several Rice Growers’ of the Year Recipients to begin the technology journey on their property. After speaking to these innovative growers, connectivity in their farming operations is a significant limitation to adopting new and emerging technology.
Develop a support hub at RRAPL to provide information and training materials to demonstrate how to implement similar projects for farmers across the rice-growing region.

Objective Summary
This project had several key objectives aimed at enhancing the adoption of farm technology at Rice Research Australia (RRAPL) and within the broader rice industry:
Complete WIFI Coverage at RRAPL: This objective involved building on the initial project’s knowledge and hardware to achieve comprehensive WIFI coverage at RRAPL. The goal was to enhance safety and provide a robust platform for integrating new and emerging technologies. Key achievements include additional WIFI access, installation of water channel sensors, and adoption of more automated irrigation systems.
Support Innovative Growers: The project aimed to work directly with several Rice Growers’ of the Year recipients to address connectivity issues and facilitate their technology journey. This support is intended to enhance their operational efficiency and productivity by providing tailored guidance and facilitating the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies.
Develop a Support Hub at RRAPL: Establishing a support hub at RRAPL is another key objective. This hub will provide information and training materials to demonstrate how to implement similar projects across the rice-growing region. It will serve as a central resource for farmers, offering training workshops, hands-on demonstrations, and educational materials on WIFI technology and its applications.
Conduct Wi-Fi 101 Workshops: To further support technology adoption, the project will conduct Wi-Fi 101 workshops for rice farmers. These workshops will cover the basics of WIFI technology, its benefits, and practical applications in farming. The goal is to increase farmers’ understanding of WIFI technology, provide practical knowledge and skills for implementing WIFI networks on their farms, and encourage technology adoption through hands-on learning experiences.
