Summary

This AgriFutures funding initiative provides an opportunity for emerging Australian plant industries and native bee stakeholders to develop a Research Development and Extension (RD&E) Strategy that both prioritises and offers leverage opportunities for the available RD&E funds, and ensures that investment aligns with their industry strategy and goals.  

The project will deliver two RD&E Strategic Plans, developed in close consultation with and owned by industry stakeholders, including growers, industry bodies, research agencies and others along the supply chain. Each Plan will be developed through a five stage consultation process, designed to maximise input and ownership of the Plan, and to provide a clear path forward.  

An initial inception meeting via videoconference will agree the scope of the Plan, identify all relevant stakeholders and documentation, enable a rapid situation and structural analysis, and then agree the shape of the final Plan, using the Agrifutures RD&E Plan template. The proposed engagement strategy will be agreed upon in the initial inception meeting.

Interviews will follow the inception meeting and a situational analysis, followed by a face-to-face workshop to be held at a central location for each industry, at a location agreed in the inception meeting. A first draft Plan will be prepared for the workshop, to maximise the quality of input and ownership.  

A full draft Plan will be prepared for review and endorsement by stakeholders, with a final Plan developed describing the key RD&E priorities for industry and the associated monitoring, evaluation & review, communication and implementation strategies.
