Summary
The project will deliver extension coordination services that will increase adoption and practice change related to improving productivity and profitability for ginger businesses. It will also deliver effective and efficient extension and communication services to develop a stronger and more resilient ginger industry.

Objective Summary
The project has two main objectives the first of which aims to improve grower productivity through:
Operating forums and annual field days which deliver broad access to current & past research, showcase new innovation and facilitate better sharing of expert resources across all growing regions to all levy-paying growers
Promoting production systems and innovations that improve efficiency through the production channel that can lower costs
Assist growers to increase their uptake of technological advancements and Best Management Practices that improve farm business profitability and sustainability
Controlling the quality of product used and quality of method used in tissue culture production and encourage whole of industry awareness and adoption of clean ginger seed production practices and benefits
The second project objective is to provide industry leadership and extension activities that include:
Providing effective and timely dissemination of key RD&E information for ginger-based farming systems that are easy for growers to understand and apply on farm
To create a collaborative public and private sector network that leverages available expertise to deliver the broadest, cost effective extension service possible
Improving grower awareness of AgriFutures Australia’s RD&E program, activities and opportunities
Improving communication between growers, AgriFutures Australia, Government agricultural organisations (DAF and Department of Agriculture) and other research and development bodies
