Practical AgTech: existing and emerging innovations

Lucerne Australia Inc.

  • Project code: PRO-016124

  • Project stage: Closed

  • Project start date: Saturday, May 14, 2022

  • Project completion date: Sunday, May 14, 2023

  • National Priority: AFI - AgriFood Innovation

Summary

The project will create networks and share knowledge using innovator or early adopter
producers that are operating ahead of the curve to share their technology adoption
experiences in a peer-to-peer learning environment. The on-farm activities will also create
opportunities to bring together farmers and technology providers together.
Producers will be able to see existing or emerging technology operating in a practical
on-farm situation enabling them to consider the technology in the context of their own
business. The use of peer-to-peer sharing of information, knowledge and experiences will
also provide an open forum for discussion of any practical difficulties experienced with
adopting various technologies (i.e. is data access easy, what maintenance is required, what
happens if there is no digital connectivity during a power outage, how easy is it to use, what
support is available, is it reliable? etc).

Objective Summary

At the completion of the workshop and activities we expect that the producers will have
been exposed to, and gained information and knowledge on, a wide range of current and
emerging technologies operating on-farm in our local region. The focus will be on agtech
technology that is relevant not only to the lucerne seed industry but also the broader
farming systems in the region.
Producers will have the opportunity to develop a farm technology plan through the project
workshop and will be able to take steps towards adopting appropriate technology solutions
for their individual business. This project is also an opportunity for producers to not only
learn about new technologies in the rapidly evolving agtech space but also to learn how to
