Australian Ginger Industry Association Incorporated

  • Project code: PRJ-008962

  • Project stage: Closed

  • Project start date: Thursday, May 30, 2013

  • Project completion date: Monday, May 15, 2017

  • National Priority: GIN-High quality product and sustainable production systems

Summary

• To facilitate new and updated agricultural chemical use permits relevant to maximising production.
• To document and train in the use of these products and systems to achieve more sustainable farming systems. This will be achieved through grower mentoring, field days and walks, presentations at grower meetings and best practice documentation and dissemination through handouts and on AGIA web site.

The on-going outcomes of this project need to be clearly documented, published and demonstrated to ginger growers through newsletters, web site, general meetings and field days which include on farm practical demonstrations.

• The project will gather data and conduct trials in support of minor chemical use applications to APVMA (and submit such applications).
• The project will provide opportunities for extension of all R&D relevant to the ginger industry (including the pythium and soil health projects)
• The project will provide a mentoring role through visitation and dissemination to ginger growers on best practice and disease control
• It will provide documentation/training on relevant technical aspects of ginger growing through industry meetings, one or more field days and on-farm demonstrations.
• Outcomes of this project will be documented, published and distributed (including through newsletters and on web site).
