Webinar: Converting Complex Waste Streams into Insect Protein – New Research from Sam Mallard

A collage: left, chopped organic waste; centre, live larvae on a surface—illustrating the process of converting complex waste streams into insect protein; right, a man monitors data on multiple screens in a laboratory with equipment visible through glass.

Join PhD candidate Sam Mallard as he shares research on black soldier fly nutrition, production performance and pesticide safety.

Sam is a PhD candidate at Adelaide University researching the safety and nutritional performance of black soldier fly larvae grown on complex waste substrates. His work is helping improve our understanding of how insects can safely convert underutilised waste streams into valuable protein while supporting the growth of Australia’s insect industry. Recently presented at IFW and EPRW, Sam will share some of the latest findings from his Industry PhD and what they mean for the future of insect production.

When: Thursday, 24 September
