Determining the impact of Varroa on virus transmission in Australian bees
This research aimed to contribute to ongoing surveillance of the Australian honey bee virus landscape as varroa establishes and spreads.

Join us for a webinar to explore the AgriFutures Honey Bee & Pollination Program Research, Development & Extension (RD&E) Plan 2026-2030.
This session will walk through the key elements of the draft RD&E Plan and give stakeholders an opportunity to ask questions and share insights. Beekeepers, pollination service providers, researchers and industry representatives are encouraged to take part and help shape the final direction of the Plan.
The webinar builds on extensive consultation with the Australian honey bee and pollination industry throughout 2025 to determine the key industry issues and opportunities, including scenario planning. This engagement has played an important role in informing our thinking and guiding the development of the RD&E Plan to date.
The RD&E Plan will serve as a roadmap for future investment in the honey bee and pollination sector, aiming to deliver measurable improvements in profitability, productivity and resilience for beekeepers and pollination service providers.
