This AgriFutures Australia short report introduces and describes how battery storage technology works. It is intended to give farmers a working understanding of this alternative energy technology, what it can cost to install and operate, and if and how it can help with reducing carbon emissions.
This report is the third in a series of short reports on alternative energy opportunities for rural producers and farmers. The series has been developed to help those at the heart of Australian agriculture make informed decisions about alternative energy options. Some topics raised in this report will be relevant to other alternative energy technologies.
The first report provided an overview of alternative energy technologies and why rural industries are or may be looking to them to meet their future energy needs. The second report looked at solar PV systems and should be read prior to this one, as some of the topics in it are relevant to and are referred to here. Later short reports will look at other current and emerging alternative energy technologies, such as biofuels and wind power.
