DownloadMaintaining orchard health is critical to ensuring a productive and profitable Australian hazelnut industry. This fact sheet is part of a series developed to help growers identify, understand and manage key diseases that can impact hazelnut production. It provides practical information on symptoms, disease spread and management strategies to support informed decision-making in the orchard.
Hazelnut mosaic is a viral disease primarily caused by Apple mosaic virus (ApMV). While not yet common in Australia, symptoms have been observed in some hazelnut variety trials and the disease has been associated with significant yield reductions overseas. This fact sheet outlines the symptoms of hazelnut mosaic, how the virus spreads through infected plant material, and the preventative measures growers can take to reduce the risk of introducing and spreading the disease in their orchards.
