The AgriFutures Thoroughbred Horses Program has invested in national research to better understand the prevalence of internal parasites (worms) and parasite management in Australian Thoroughbred horses.
This pocket guide summarises evidence-based, best practice approaches in an Australian context.
This guide will assist veterinarians working with Thoroughbred horses to:
– Advise clients on best practice internal parasite management which aligns with current research
– Understand and address anthelmintic resistance
– Implement integrated management strategies which are targeted to their client’s requirements.
An accompanying industry guide has been developed to offer high-level guidance to stud owners, farm managers and other personnel and encourage them to work closely with veterinarians to implement and monitor internal parasite control programs.
