This RIRDC report studies the feasibility of cocoa production in northern Australia and includes cocoa growing trials in three growing regions. Economic viability depends on good prices and high productivity of harvesting and processing. The report finds that a fledgling cocoa industry is developing in northern Queensland with about 35 ha of plantings established and beginning to come into production.
