This R&D Plan has been prepared in consultation with RIRDC’s Rice Research and Development Committee with input from growers, researchers, marketers, resource managers and government.
The Plan reflects the state of the industry in 2006 – a world class food business, vertically integrated marketing arrangements, deregulation of domestic marketing and recovery from a severe drought that reduced production from a record 1.7 million tonnes in 2001 to 390,000 tonnes in 2003.
