Summary
Ensuring the long-term sustainability of Australia’s agricultural workforce requires targeted data-driven strategies that address both systemic and emerging challenges. Workforce retention and attraction remain key concerns, particularly in the Agriculture sector, as the challenge of operating in rural and remote areas, coupled with concerns around gaps in industry workforce data present challenges to long term planning for the sectors workforce.
AgriFutures has identified critical data gaps that limit the industry’s ability to make informed decisions about workforce development. These include the need for improved understanding of employment patterns, skill levels, demographic shifts and sector-specific workforce challenges. By addressing these gaps, AgriFutures can support targeted interventions that enhance workforce resilience and adaptability.
