Objective Summary

The objective is to continue to develop the leadership capacity and resilience of its sector through ongoing investment in participatants in various leadership programs sponsored by the industry. A cohort of growers participated in an emerging leaders program conducted for the industry by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation in 2012 and participants from this group identified the need for media training to assist them in their various leadership roles.

This group are regularly asked to speak on behalf of rice growers and the rice industry at workshops, field days, careers days, visits to the region by politicians, media, university and school groups, and overseas visitors. They are also increasingly being seen by the industry as peer leaders and innovators and they are required to speak confidently and autoritatively about the industry on a regular basis.
