Summary

Lucerne Australia is the peak industry body for the lucerne seed industry in Australia and it works closely with the Rural industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) with research and development projects.
In order to effectively disseminate research results to increase adoption across the industry, we recommend a formal “Communication and Adoption for R&D results” agreement with RIRDC.

Objective Summary

$5,000.00 per annum over five years paid to Lucerne Australia to undertake some of the following activities in a particular year:
• Field Tours.
• On-farm demonstration days e.g. lucerne hay, header set-up, bailing and spraying.
• Financial management workshops e.g. Cost of Production.
• Open days linked to the RIRDC-funded research such as the Centre Pivot Variety Trial and Fertiliser Trial.
• State, interstate and international guest speakers.
• Development of new factsheets and reports.
• Quarterly newsletters.
• Workshops focusing on current issues such as the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and noxious weeds workshops, and in the future perhaps use of apps for farming Pasture Seeds.
• Case study stories of lucerne seed grower who are adopting new practices.
• Media relations and social media activities (print, radio, TV and online).
• Exhibits and/or displays at prominent industry events.
• Attitude or information surveys to members and industry stakeholders.
• Formal lectures, speeches and presentations at industry events.
• Feedback to RIRDC on stakeholder uptake and adoption
These communication activities will be focused on our grower and industry stakeholder target audiences and provide valuable insights into the latest research, processes to increase productivity and enhance knowledge and understanding. We will endeavour to acknowledge RIRDC and promote RIRDC communication products at each of these activities.
