  • Project code: PRJ-000002

  • Project stage: Closed

  • Project start date: Tuesday, September 19, 2006

  • Project completion date: Monday, December 18, 2017

  • National Priority: TTO-Increasing demand

Summary

This is an initial screening test to test for efficacy of the product. Further testing and product analysis is required before registration of a product would be possible. This will be a replicated trial where the numbers of buffalo flies on treated cattle will be compared with the numbers of flies counted on cattle that receive no treatment. This will be a simple comparison. Lesions will be noted but may not be seen in some seasons when buffalo fly numbers are low.
If the product is shown to be efficacious then further trials on cattle will be needed for registration of the product. Chemical analysis results of the Tea-tree oil will also be provided to the registering authority (APVMA). Much of this work has been done but the APVMA may require some specific analysis work before allowing registration.
