Summary
This research intends to further the investigation of radiographic lesions detected on presale radiographs and their effect on long term performance in Thoroughbred horses. Specifically, it aims to assess the most prevalent radiographic lesions known to influence performance (including career starts, career wins, career places, career prize money and total peak career rating) in greater detail, with the purpose of defining specific parameters for each lesion and correlating these parameters to potential impact on performance. The resulting outputs expect to provide stakeholders greater confidence in radiographic risk ratings and subsequent confidence in buying yearlings.
