The Rural Safety and Health Alliance (RSHA) is seeking to fill the position of independent Chair.

Service requirements
This is an important role in helping shape investments in practical, innovative and impactful projects and initiatives to improve health and safety outcomes for farmers, fishers and foresters.
The Chair of the RSHA is a three-year position and the successful applicant:
- May be required for up to 10-15 days per year. Some travel will be necessary.
- Will be recompensed for their services to the RSHA at rates determined by the Commonwealth’s Remuneration Tribunal. All travel expenses will be covered.
Key selection criteria:
- Knowledge and experience in health and safety within agriculture, fishing, or forestry industries, particularly regarding barriers to improved outcomes and innovative approaches.
- Understanding of the RDC system and the duties and responsibilities of a Chair.
- Leadership experience in rural industries, with an understanding of supporting producer adoption and practice change.
- Strategic thinking and critical assessment skills for research, development, and extension proposals.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build productive partnerships with primary producers, RSHA partners, research and extension providers, regulators, health and safety organizations, and key industry and government stakeholders.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Chairing meetings and teleconferences.
- Approving meeting agendas.
- Providing critical and constructive comments on proposals, activities, and outputs.
- Publicly representing the RSHA in media enquiries and stakeholder consultations.
- Building productive relationships with key stakeholders.

Submitting an application
Applications for this Request for Quote must be submitted to the designated project contact officer.
Respondent’s will be expected to provide:
- A detailed project plan – including timelines, how the project will be conducted and how this will meet the requirements of the RFQ.
- Examples of similar work the respondent has completed.
- Capability and relevant experience.
The resultant Contract is expected to commence on 1 July 2025.
It is expected that a contract will be awarded based on how well a respondent addresses the objectives of the tender. Selection will be based on the evaluation criteria. A detailed response will be beneficial.

Terms of reference
AgriFutures Australia uses standard form contracts and agreements for projects and research procured by AgriFutures Australia. These contracts and agreements set out the terms on which AgriFutures Australia will engage successful applicants to carry out the project.
Applicants must be familiar with the contracts and agreements before submitting a response and are advised to seek legal advice beforehand.
These contracts and agreements have been developed to reflect AgriFutures Australia’s statutory and other procurement responsibilities.
If you require any amendments to the standard agreement, please complete the statement of non-compliance for each of the relevant clause. AgriFutures will then assess those requests.
Applicants will be taken to have agreed to all clauses in the Research Agreement that are not referred to in a statement of non-compliance. The extent of any non-compliance will be a factor in AgriFutures Australia’s evaluation of the application.
