AgriFutures Australia General Manager, Research John Smith has welcomed Lucinda Staley to the AgriFutures team based in Wagga Wagga, NSW as Manager, Research – Rice, Export Fodder and Ginger.

Ms Staley joins the team after extensive experience working for the Grains Research and Development Corporation, (GRDC), the Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) and international logistics German firm, DB Schenker.

“We are thrilled to have Ms Staley on board as she brings a wealth of industry experience to AgriFutures,” said Mr Smith.

“At GRDC, Ms Staley worked as a Project Manager, Plant Health which involved broad acre cropping and crop protection and her projects predominately focused on weed and pest control.”

Mr Smith added: “At the Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF), Ms Staley’s work as a Livestock Project Manager saw her lead a state-wide extension project, delivering animal health, welfare and biosecurity information to livestock producers.”

Ms Staley said she was looking forward to working across different industries and managing programs which cover all aspects of research, development and extension for the rice, export fodder and ginger industries.

“One of the things I am most looking forward to, is connecting primary producers with research outcomes so they can enhance their farming systems,” said Ms Staley.

“I am excited to be based in a regional centre at Wagga Wagga NSW and working with a dynamic team who are similarly passionate about the future of Australian agriculture.”

Ms Staley studied a Bachelor Agricultural Science at the University of Melbourne and a Master’s degree at Viticulture and Oenology from Charles Sturt University.

Ms Staley said her various roles and extensive project and program management would also assist industries which focus on export markets.

Ms Staley has taken on this role from John Smith who was recently appointed AgriFutures Australia General Manager, Research.
