This publication provides an example of a successful organic conversion program in the Australian dairy industry that can be used as a model by people and organisations who wish to foster the further development of certified organic farming in Australia, including certifiers, organic consultants, organic producer organisations, processors of organic produce, and organic sections of state and federal government agriculture departments.
The key finding of the project is that the active participation of certified organic farmers in a conversion program, willing to freely offer their experience and support to new entrants, is highly valued by those interested in converting, and an important factor in its success.
