This AgriFutures Australia short report introduces and describes in more detail solar PV systems, the most popular alternative energy technology already used in Australia. The report is designed to give rural producers and farmers a practical understanding of how this technology works, the installation and operating costs, the savings it can generate, and how it can reduce carbon emissions.
This report is the second in a series on alternative energy opportunities for rural producers and farmers. The series has been developed to help those at the heart of Australian agriculture make informed decisions about alternative energy options. Some topics raised in this report will be relevant to other alternative energy technologies.
The first report provided an overview of alternative energy technologies and why rural industries are or may be looking to them to meet their future energy needs. Other short reports will look at other current and emerging alternative energy technologies, such as batteries, biofuels and wind power.
