This report outlines a strategy for developing a breed of low rainfall radiata pine (Pinus radiata). The new breed would be suitable for expanding the radiata planting estate into warmer, drier areas than those to which the existing breeds of radiata developed in Australia and New Zealand are currently adapted. The strategy aims to create a new breed possibly based on the previously untapped Mexican island and Cambria provenances.
