This project aims to identify and evaluate the biological activity of lavender (Lavandula) essential oils, extracts and hydrosols. Research has shown that lavender oils possess a range of biological properties that may make them medically useful. In addition lavender hydrosols (the by product of the steam distillation process) are being advocated for a variety of therapeutic uses and it is also possible that that lavender leaves and stem contain biologically active compounds.
