This report compares the early gains achieved using three different breeding strategies (seed orchards) intended for improving blue mallee Eucalyptus polybractea oil production. The research also investigated the flowering behaviour of the trees in the orchards, which assists in understanding the contribution of individual trees to seed production, and has implications for breeding blue mallee.
The report is for industry investors and researchers interested in the scope for improving blue mallee oil quality and yield, via improved genetic material.
