This project aimed to reduce feed costs by using cool climate forage feed as a major source of nutrition. Through their experiments the researchers found that growers could save at least $27 per head using forage as a significant component of emus’ diet. With improved management knowledge and more favourable seasons there may be the possibility of increased savings of up to $60 per bird.
