The Sustainable Wildlife Enterprises (SWE) Strategy is part of the Rangelands and Wildlife Program of the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC). It is establishing trials to evaluate the commercial value of wildlife as an incentive to restore on-farm habitat. One element of the Program is to trial the commercial utilisation of native plants and animals to determine whether this is an incentive for biodiversity conservation and landscape rehabilitation on private land, by enabling landholders to realize the value of wildlife and so give them a reason to protect and restore degraded habitats. This project fits within the Section of the Strategy that is being developed for the SWE trials. The Strategy is guiding groups of landholders and industries to develop plans to implement the trials.
