Q fever is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Coxiella burnetii and while many people do not become sick or only suffer a mild illness, for others it causes a prolonged, serious, and debilitating illness.

New research has examined a range of wildlife and pest species to fill gaps in our knowledge about their role in the transmission of the disease to livestock and people.
