The Guide is a ‘learning tool’ to familiarise farmers and others with the issues relevant to sustainable agriculture. It is not a detailed, technical manual! Work by several other groups in Australia is proceeding to refine regional/national indicators (SCARM, 1996) and catchment indicators (Walker & Reuter, 1996). Other work by FM500 consultants (and many others) looks in detail at some on-farm indicators.
