In November 2022, AgriFutures Australia engaged the University of Technology Sydney’s (UTS) Institute for Public Policy and Governance (IPPG) to undertake a horizon scanning project for the Australian agriculture sector.
The project was designed to guide AgriFutures Australia and its stakeholders to: (1) identify emerging strategic, policy and technological issues and trends likely to impact rural industries in Australia; (2) better understand key implications, opportunities and risks arising from these issues and trends in coming years; and (3) strengthen planning on priorities and supplementary research to support evidence-based decision making and investments, and ongoing monitoring and change management processes.
This report presents a synthesis of evidence gathered through the IPPG research stages described at Section 1. More specifically, it provides suggested areas for action and further research for consideration by AgriFutures Australia and research and development corporations (RDCs).
