This report scopes the most appropriate and effective organisational structures that might be useful in ‘on-ground’ trials for proposed wildlife management conservancies of the RIRDC Rangelands and Wildlife Systems R&D Program.
The Conservancy projects aim to develop and trial wildlife enterprises in a “learning by doing” methodology. This is an active adaptive or experimental management approach with landholders, which must occur at cross-property scales in order to achieve economies of scale of wild harvest, improved land management and biodiversity outcomes.
The research will be of use to researchers and facilitators supporting the establishment of wildlife conservancies, as well as to landholders considering options for more formal collaboration across properties.
