This report reviews RIRDC-funded Asian Foods Research and Development (R&D) projects with the objective of assessing whether the projects have led to commercial ventures. The report also reviews the probable reasons for the success or lack of success in commercialising the projects.
The project was completed through discussions with Chief Investigators of past studies, literature review, industry surveys and key informant surveys.
The study highlights, through case study analyses of projects funded by RIRDC and other government sources, factors that may have contributed to the commercialisation of a number of non-traditional and innovative rural food crops and processed food products that were commenced as R&D projects.
