Australian agriculture, fisheries and forestry businesses rely heavily on diesel for machinery, transport and on‑site energy—leaving the sector exposed to volatile fuel prices, supply risks and increasing emissions pressures.

This snapshot provides a concise overview of the Australian Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry Energy Transition Roadmap 2026–2035, a sector‑wide, 10‑year implementation plan developed to support the shift to affordable, reliable and low‑emissions energy systems.

The roadmap outlines practical, industry‑led pathways for electrification, renewable fuels and integrated energy systems, identifying more than 60 priority goals across technology readiness, infrastructure, supply chains, policy, workforce capability and data systems. It draws on extensive stakeholder engagement, technical modelling and national energy planning to ensure recommendations are feasible, regionally relevant and productivity‑focused.

Designed for producers, processors, policymakers, researchers and industry partners, this snapshot is a practical entry point to understanding how the sector can reduce energy costs, strengthen fuel security and remain competitive in a low‑carbon economy—while continuing to meet productivity and emissions goals.
