This report describes an investigation into the water and salt balance dynamics taking place beneath a eucalypt plantation established over a shallow, saline groundwater system. With an understanding of the processes, a computer model was developed to simulate plantation behaviour under different site conditions and management regimes. The modelling capability developed in this project will help land and catchment managers of the future to better design agroforestry systems for salinity control.
