Summary

Impact Innovation plans to develop a comprehensive Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) framework for AgriFutures Australia’s Innovation Broker Program. The proposed framework aims to enhance the assessment and reporting of investment impacts across four Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation (DRA&I) Hubs. Led by MER specialist Brian Ruddle and supported by a skilled team, the project will leverage previous experiences with designing and deploying similar MER frameworks to deliver a robust, tailored system.

The project will begin with a detailed review of existing documentation and the current MER practices, identifying areas for improvement to align with the best-practice ISO management innovation standards. This foundation will guide the development of a new, improved MER framework focusing on tangible metrics that reflect the program’s objectives and stakeholder needs.

Stakeholder engagement is central to our methodology. Through consultations and group interviews with key stakeholders—including innovation brokers, directors, and AgriFutures management—we will capture diverse insights to inform the framework’s development. This approach ensures that the framework not only measures outcomes effectively but also resonates with the needs of all participants.

A draft of the framework will be submitted for review midway through the timeline, with the final version refined based on feedback. This iterative process ensures a fit-for-purpose framework that facilitates informed decision-making and showcases the real impact of investments in the Innovation Broker Program. The project is scheduled for completion by June 2024, ensuring timely integration within the program’s operations from 1st July 2024.
