Summary

Development of a RDE Plan for the Australian Kakadu Plum industry in the AgriFutures Emerging Industries RDE Plan template to assist industry growth. The plan will be developed through extensive stakeholder engagement and desktop research. All relevant historical research, both domestic and international, must be considered and integrated accordingly. Key barriers to industry growth, including those that are not related to RDE will be identified. RDE needs are prioritised and clearly have SMART objectives. The final RDE Plan will include:

• Executive summary
• Industry situation analysis
• Industry consultation process
• Industry RDE Plan, including priorities/strategies
• Communication and extension plan
• Monitoring, evaluation and reporting plan, including economic and environmental benefits from RDE investment
• Evaluation of the RDE Plan
• Implementation
• RDE program management to facilitate the RDE Plan
• Risk management

Method:
1. Inception meeting with key industry stakeholders
2. Situational and structural analysis to build a contemporary picture and develop a synopsis and benchmark it against the required outcomes.
3. RD&E Strategic Plan body industry consultation and engagement.
4. A full draft RD&E Plan will be prepared.
5. Feedback received on the draft report will be discussed by the team and a Final RD&E Strategic Plan will be submitted to industry for endorsement. A final report including the Final RD&E Strategic Plan will be submitted to AgriFutures Australia.
 
The desired outcome of this project is that there is an industry network who feel a sense of ownership over the RDE Plan, have a desire to drive it implementation and are wanting to see the industry grow.
