Summary

The project will focus on the potential incursion of FMD and consequent risks and minimisation strategies.  Undertake a rapid review of literature and expert opinion from previous outbreaks of FMD [AO1] in the UK in 2001 and document issues and strategies.

Review of AUSVETPLAN strategies for FMD for impacts on the thoroughbred breeding industries.

Identify biosecurity risks inherent to the thoroughbred breeding industry and develop strategies to minimise impacts.

identify other major exotic and emergency animal diseases that would have stock movement implications on the thoroughbred breeding industry.

Provide recommendations to the industry on strategies to minimise impacts.
