Summary
The Australian export fodder industry has exported around 1.2 million tonnes in recent years, mostly to Japan, China, Korea and Taiwan. At the time of development of the current strategic plan, the industry was estimated to be worth around $584 million per year. Following the introduction of an Export Fodder RD&E Levy, AgriFutures developed an Export Fodder Program, guided by priorities and goals as outlined in an initial Strategic Plan (2016-2021).
The goal of the current Export Fodder Strategic Plan (2021-2026) is to invest in RD&E that improves the profitability, productivity and sustainability of the export fodder industry. The purpose of the mid-term review is to provide guidance that progress is being made toward achieving the objectives in the Plan, and confirming whether objectives are still suitable.
Marsden Jacob understand the aim of the engagement is to review the Program to date to ensure the investments and activities are aligned with the RD&E Strategic Plan, and expectations of industry are being met. We understand that the project aims to understand the performance of the Plan so far, identify gaps and provide recommendations on how they may address these for the remainder of the Plan period.
More detail on our understanding can be found in Section 2 of the attached proposal.
