Objective Summary

The key objective of this project is to develop a business plan for a pollination Industry Alliance that has full backing by industry participants, can be independently administered, and has continual industry funding. There are three main components in developing such an Alliance. These include establishment of the motivation for the alliance (what is at risk and what is the benefits of reducing this risk), development of a plan for what the alliance will achieve (risk management strategies for biosecurity and adaptation should an incursion not be containable, research and development required to underpin these risk management strategies; and education and training to ensure that the honeybee industry can deliver on the biosecurity strategies and adapt to manage veroa, and provide the basis to grow a pollination industry), and development of an organisational structure and administration and funding arrangements that will support the delivery of these strategies.
