Outcome of proposed work: A vaccine to control infectious bursal disease in broiler chickens. Fills the need for a safe, cost effective vaccine against infectious bursal disease virus which can be used to vaccinate broilers should exotic IBDV strains enter the country Deliverables of proposed research: A Lactobacillus strain expressing protective IBDV proteins which has been shown to protect SPF birds experimentally challenged with IBDV. The strain would be protected by a patent and interest from prospective commercial partners sought.
