The AgriFutures Chicken Meat Program’s Extension Webinar Series is designed to connect researchers with all areas of industry to share the outcomes and benefits of their research.
Join us for the next AgriFutures Chicken Meat Program Extension Webinar, where we take you inside the Sustainable Precision Feeding in Broiler Chickens in Australia project – a world-first research consortium helping to secure the future of Australia’s chicken meat industry.
The Consortium is a major collaborative research program bringing together leading Australian and international researchers and partner organisations across six integrated sub-programs. Its aim is to develop advanced nutrition strategies that make greater use of local resources, alongside improved management practices across the production chain – including at the farm level. Expected impacts include improvements to chicken meat production and food safety (with reduced reliance on antibiotics), better animal welfare through improved health and shed conditions, and a reduced environmental footprint for the industry.
In this session, Professor Ruth Zadoks, Professor in Production Animal Health at the University of Sydney, together with Dr Shemil Macelline, will introduce the Consortium and focus on Program 6 – the Integration program. Program 6 ensures that the highly specialised work across Programs 1 to 5 comes together into practical, integrated solutions for the poultry meat industry, while guarding against unintended impacts on human, animal or environmental health.
