AgriFutures Chicken Meat Program: Extension Webinar Series

A group of white chickens walks on a dirt-covered ground inside a barn in Australia, with blurred human legs and boots visible in the background, illustrating the development of high-quality chicken meat.

About the Webinar

The AgriFutures Chicken Meat Program’s Extension Webinar Series is designed to connect researchers with all areas of industry to share the outcomes and benefits of their research.

Join us for the next AgriFutures Chicken Meat Program Extension Webinar, where we will hear from Caleb Wellard, 2023 recipient of the Gary Sansom Scholarship, on his PhD research into avian circadian rhythms and their potential for application within commercial poultry production.

Undertaken at Deakin University, Caleb’s research examined how birds’ internal body clocks function and what this could mean for management practices in the chicken meat industry. In this session, Caleb will share the findings from his completed project and reflect on how his research has taken on an increasingly industry-focused direction.

The webinar will also provide an overview of the upcoming Gary Sansom Scholarship opportunity, with the chance to ask questions about the application process. Funded by the AgriFutures Chicken Meat Program and supported by industry, the Scholarship recognises students and helps them foster a career pathway in the chicken meat industry while supporting industry-relevant research.
