A DNA microarray chip for monitoring biodiversity has been developed and tested under Australian conditions. Application of this technology will eventually enable researchers and environmental managers to determine and predict impacts of environmental perturbation on biodiversity more rapidly, cost-effectively and efficiently than is currently possible using existing techniques. Detailed information on the development, testing and application of the “biodiversity chip” is provided in this report.
