Research into new propagation technology is essential for meeting the present and future demands for the efficient mass-propagation of Australian plants to be used in land restoration and for horticultural utilisation. Somatic embryogenesis has a high potential as a clonal propagation method and it has been estimated that 60,000 plants can be obtained from one gram of parent tissue. The aim of this study is to deliver a superior, mass propagation method for native plant taxa that cannot normally be produced by conventional techniques.
